This is a great, quick exercise to help you slow your breath down
and become more relaxed.
• Have a pen and piece of A4 or A3 paper in front of you.
Breathe in deeply and as you do draw a line on the paper. Now breathe out and continue drawing the line. Do this for several breaths until you feel more relaxed. It doesn't matter what it looks like. It’s the awareness of the breath and slowing the breath down that's important.
This is a great exercise to do with children too.
Doodling is a great way to help quiet a chattering mind,
and it can help you feel relaxed and calm, and evoke good feelings.
For this simple exercise you will need:
• A piece of A4 or A3 paper
• A black/darker coloured pen
• Coloured pens or pencils
Get your piece of paper in front of you, and take hold of the pen that you'
want to use for the outline.
Take a few deep breaths, and as you do draw a continuous line on the paper. Allow the line to curve and flow, and go in all directions on the paper. When you feel you've finished you can begin to colour and doodle in the areas you've created.
The more you you draw with the outline pen,
the more areas you'll have to doodle in.
